SHL is involved in different projects abroad. The focus lies always on teaching hospitality competences with associated practice-oriented training concepts.
Numerous requests about international cooperation led to the opening of the SHL International Office in Singapore in 2013. SHL now supports various projects in Asia, China and Europe.

MYANMAR - SHL train the trainer programme
After one year of demanding full-time training, the students in Myanmar received their diploma from SHL Director Christa Augsburger at the end of 2015.
To this day, a large number of former students are still active in Myanmar's education sector. The well-founded SHL training programme has made a considerable contribution to quality development in vocational training in Myanmar.
As part of the project, SHL received the then Minister of Hotel and Tourism from Myanmar in Lucerne. -
Southern EuropeMacedonia
SHL Mazedonia
As part of its job creation activities in Macedonia, SHL has been commissioned by Swisscontact to accompany the training of trainers. The focus here is on methodological and didactic further development and on the transfer of specialist know-how. Various weekly courses were implemented in 2016 in the learning fields of leadership, yield and revenue management and online distribution.
The project will be continued in 2017. Among other things, SHL is allowed to implement mystery checks at hotels and restaurants in Ohrid - in southern Macedonia.

ACAC - Academy of Culinary Arts in Cambodia
SHL is the technical partner and know-how provider for the newly opened cooking school in Phnom Penh. Under the name Academy of Culinary Arts Cambodia ACAC, this school was opened at the end of March 2017. Its aim is to implement a dual education similar to Switzerland’s, to give young people the chance to thrive in the labour market. Especially, as Cambodia is an attractive country with a burgeoning tourism industry.
The project was initiated by the Shift 360 foundation.

SHL China
Together with Swisscontact, SHL is committed to the qualitative development of the hotel management school in Lombok. A very exciting and challenging project financed by SECO and followed with great interest by the Indonesian government. SHL welcomed the Deputy Minister for Tourism to Lucerne. The visit of the Indonesian delegation was rounded off with an excursion to Mount Rigi.
The SHL International team, led by Susanne Oswald, will be regularly present in Lombok for the next four years and will work in the areas of School Management and Faculty Development. An additional focus is the consolidation and expansion of the English language skills of the local teachers.
