About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern, within the F&B department, the F&B Trainee is responsible for ensuring a smooth operation within the respective outlet, anticipate our guests’ needs and have full knowledge of the menu and seasonal offerings to make personalized recommendations to our guests.

As a Food & Beverage Service Trainee you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Serving food and drinks professionally
• Complying with our high quality service standards
• Supporting the supervisors in their daily tasks
• Booking all transactions in the cash register system and carrying out correct cash accounting
• Assisting in the preparation and implementation of events
• Providing the necessary Mise en Place
• Setting up and cleaning the restaurant, bar and terrace areas
• Complying with hygiene regulations and cleanliness within the framework of the HACCP guidelines

As a Food & Beverage Service Trainee we expect from you:

• Open-mindedness and delight in dealing with guests
• A strong sense of service and service-mindedness
• Warm, teamwork and guest-oriented personality
• Good communication skills - guests will approach you with complaints as well as positive feedback. Therefore, you are always open and approachable
• Excellent manners and a well-groomed appearance, as well as a positive charisma
• Flexibility and ability to work under pressure - your position includes weekend and holiday shifts
• Very good knowledge of German and English. Further foreign language skills are an advantage
