Admission

In addition to a personal fascination for the world of hotels and gastronomy, future students of SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern meet the following requirements:

  • 18th yeas old
  • Federal certificate of proficiency (EFZ) or other upper secondary level qualification (e.g. Matura or Fachmittelschule)
  • German mother tongue or proof of German language skills at level C1
  • Before entering semester 6: Proof of a second foreign language (in addition to English) at level B1

Have you completed a professional apprenticeship in gastronomy? Then read below to find out how you can be exempted from certain academic and practical semesters of the «Dipl. Hotelier(e)-Gastronom(in) HF» course.

Exemption for professionals

  • Chefs EFZ and Dietary chefs EFZ

    Chefs EFZ and Dietary chefs EFZ are exempt from semester 1 (kitchen department) and semester 2 (gastronomy internship).

    Students who have also completed a second apprenticeship as a catering specialist EFZ are exempt from the entire semester 1 Gastronomy (kitchen department and catering department).

  • Restaurant specialists EFZ

    Restaurant specialists EFZ are exempt from semester 1 (service) and from semester 2 of the gastronomy internship.

    Students who have also completed a second apprenticeship as a chef EFZ are exempt from the entire Gemester 1 Gastronomy (kitchen and service).

  • Hotel clerks HGT (Hotel-Gastro-Tourism) EFZ

    Hotel clerks HGT (Hotel-Gastro-Tourism) EFZ are exempt from semester 3 Hotellerie and semester 4 internship Hotellerie.

  • Hotel communication specialists EFZ

    Hotel communication specialists EFZ are exempt from semester 3 Hotellerie and semester 4  Hotellerie. .

  • Hotel specialists EFZ

    Hotel specialists EFZ are exempted from the semester 2 internship in Gastronomy or the semester 4 internship in Hotellerie (depending on previous professional experience).

  • System catering specialists EFZ

    System catering specialists EFZ are exempt from the semester 2 Gastronomy internship.
