The tariffs above include the semester fees subsidised by the canton of residence1 (incl. all digital teaching materials, examination fees, excursions, the kitchen and service uniforms and a knife set) and meals from Monday morning to Friday noon (breakfast, lunch and dinner). 1 Swiss students (incl. Principality of Liechtenstein) and students with a B residence permit (except residence permit B for educational purposes only) or C residence permit are generally eligible to receive subsidised school fees by their canton of residence or place of origin*. SHL submits an application on behalf of the student to the canton liable for payment will make the final decision on the granting of subsidies. Students from abroad who are resident in Switzerland before commencing their studies can also submit an application for clarification.
*The «Intercantonal Agreement on Contributions to Courses of Study at Colleges of Higher Education» (HFSV) regulates the amount of contributions that a canton pays for its students to attend school outside the canton. The cantonal contribution is CHF 4,900 per semester.

Semesters 2 and 4 are paid internship semesters for which the minimum gross internship salary in Switzerland is CHF 2,359 per month (according to L-GAV | as of January 2024). The management experience after semester 5 is also a paid practical assignment in the hotel or gastronomy industry.
Members of the Hotel & Gastro Union, the founder of SHL, are granted a discount of CHF 200 per semester on condition that a personal membership of at least two years prior to the start of the semester. The tuition discount is paid at the beginning of each semester.
